Jobs in Canada for International Persons
Though not Canadian-born, you can still find jobs in the country. Whether you are an immigrant or a contract worker, you may be referred to as a working “international person”. Discrimination may be the least of your worries in Canada, which has many multicultural states. You don't have to worry too much about bogus or exploitative employment, especially if you are being hired directly from your native country.
What is an international person?
You will be referred to as a legal international person if you are any of the following:
- citizenship applicant
- immigrant
- non-immigrant/contractual worker
Work permit
If you are not a Canadian citizen, you will need a work permit if you want to earn a living as a contract worker in Canada. Some temporary jobs, however, do not require you to have a working permit at all. Some of these temporary jobs include being:
- a clergy
- a convention speaker
- an emergency service worker
- a foreign representative
- a business visitor
- an incident investigator
- a judge and referee
Concerns
If you are applying for a job in Canada, it is highly possible that you will get a decent job. However, be wary of companies and agencies that promise impossibly high salaries and benefits. They may turn out to be ploys to get you into a human trafficking business.
